ABOUT US
More about WOHNEN Paints

The business was started in 1990 by Dr Van Aardt du Preez and his wife, Gerda.

They realized the indisputable role that painting, decorating and beautifying homes and buildings plays and has always played, but at the same time, became aware of a gap in the paint market in Potchefstroom.

They decided from the start to not only be merely paint dealers, but to excel in technical aspects as well as colour expertise. This, in fact is what makes them unique to this day.

It is with this one of a kind expertise that they have been serving customers and clients for 20 years.

Their son, Louwrens, joined the the rapidly growing business in 1994.

A second shop, Loads of Paint, was started in Klerksdorp at the end of 1994 which also renders the same excellent service.

The first Wohnen shop opened its doors on the Bult in Potchefstroom, but soon grew too small for its purpose, and the business moved to premises in Church Street, which in its turn, also grew too small. Bigger premises on the corner of Wolmarans and Sol Plaatjie ave were occupied soon after.

The need for their own premises grew rapidly and the owners bought the plot opposite their then existing premises from the Municipality in 1999.

Building soon started and a dream was realized when they finally occupied the new shop on the corner of Wolmarans and Sol Plaatjie avenues in 2000, where they can be located to this day.

The need for own premises also arose in Klerksdorp, and in 2007 they moved into newly acquired premises at 79 Buffeldoorn road Flamwood Klerksdorp.

Both businesses are widely known for their unique, excellent service and serve clients from across the country.

Dr. Du Preez and Louwrens are, to date, the only two paint dealers in South Africa to have successfully completed SAPMA courses (module 1 and 2)

The whole family is enthusiastically involved in the business – Louwrens` s wife, Alet, does the accounts and the kids occasionally help out in the shop during holidays.

Wohnen is actively involved as far as the community is concerned and has been sponsoring Hoër Volkskool` s first rugby team for 15 years. Several schools, amidst others, Baillie Park Primary and Ferdinand Postma High School, are also sponsored by them.

Paint is regularly donated to charity organizations, such as Hebron house and community centers in Ikageng.

The team at Wohnen strives to maintain its winning recipe in order to equal and excel its excellence and continue serving excellently.
